Cuesta Villas Housing Project
According to the current plan, the City of Cerritos will lease 16 acres of land
from ABC School District, and build a 247-unit low income apartment complex, a
new senior center and a new park there. The City also purchase 6 acres of
additional land for the School District to relocate its headquarters, kitchen and
warehouse. The City will pay over $3 million in land lease to the School District
for the next 55 years, rain or shine. All in all, The City will spend a total of
over $300 million of Cerritos taxpayers' money on this project. Details of this
project can be found here.
The United HOA is not opposed to affordable housing in general, but we are strongly opposed to
this particular project, because it is ill-conceived and ill-planned. It is in violation of
California Law, and it puts an extremely unfair burden on Cerritos taxpayers. Details
of our position can be found here.
Even though this project was recently validated by Los Angeles County Superior Court through
legal gimmicks and loopholes, we remain convinced that it cannot be justified by the spirit of
our Constitution. We stand by those Cerritos citizens who continue to seek justice by appealing
to a higher legal authority. Please support this effort. Please
contact us if you can help.
